Is Canada’s Economic Action Plan Leaving Women and Children Behind?

School boards making cuts. Government reduction to health and social services. What’s wrong with this picture?

Canada’s Economic Action Plan commercials (see below) show people (mostly men) in hard hats keeping their jobs.

While female dominated professions such as education, health care, and social services are recieving cut backs.  Add this to the elimination of the Universal Childcare Plan, and a picture begins to develop in which women’s ecnomic development plays poor second cousin to that of men.

It’s no wonder Canada ranks 20th for women’s equality among the other developed nations of the world.
