Announcement: UBC-O Intimate Partner Violence Study

This study is being conducted by researchers at the University of British Columbia – Okanagan.  The Principal Investigator is Dr Zachary Walsh, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Phsychology.

Many people experience intimate partner violence. This study seeks to understand the types of intimate partner violence experienced by people who are living in Kelowna and the surrounding area, and what roles personality, substance use, mental health, and social support play.

Person’s eligible to participate in this study will meet the following criteria:

  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Must have experienced at least one incident of intimate partner violence in the last 2 years
  • Must have been in an intimate relationship: dating, cohabitating, or married, within the last year

Participation in this study will take approximatly 60 minutes. It involves meeting with an interviewer and answering questions about intimate partner violence, subtance use, mental health, and social support. All information will be kept confidential.
